About Tassaduq

Meet the Artist Behind the Sitar

Born and raised in Gilgit Pakistan. His journey with the instrument began in 2017 when a few simple tips from his brother sparked what would soon become a deep passion for music.

He began by exploring the cultural melodies and folk tunes he grew up hearing in Gilgit. What started as curiosity gradually became an important part of his life. The Sitar became a way for Tassaduq to stay connected to his roots and to express the music and culture that surrounded him growing up.

After moving to the United States in 2018 his musical journey continued to evolve. He later connected with renowned Afghan musician Ustad Homayoun Sakhi. Since 2021 Tassaduq has been learning under his guidance and deepening his understanding of music while continuing to develop his own approach to the instrument.

Tassaduq and his Ustad Homayoun Sakhi

Today Tassaduq performs at weddings cultural celebrations private events and stages across the United States. His music brings together the sounds of his roots with familiar melodies from South Asia and beyond. Through each performance he aims to create an experience that feels both culturally rooted and relevant to the audience in front of him.

For Tassaduq the Sitar is more than an instrument. It represents where he comes from and carries a part of home with him wherever he performs. Being able to share this instrument and the culture behind it with new audiences is something that remains deeply meaningful to him.

What began in Gilgit in 2017 continues to grow with every performance.
